An Tesseract Odyssey is the Cornish-language companion to The Tesseract Odyssey: the same progressive rock journey through geometry, perception and the fourth dimension, now experienced through Kernewek.
The original English recordings are used as the musical foundation for these new performances. Each lyric is translated into Standard Written Form Cornish while preserving the original meaning, imagery, structure and emotional progression as closely as possible. The aim is not to write different songs, but to allow the same songs to live naturally in another language.
Cornish and English do not always share the same rhythm, stress or word length. The performances are therefore allowed a little room to breathe. Some passages may be longer, shorter or phrased differently from the originals where that gives the Cornish lyric a more natural musical flow.
LANGUAGE AND REFERENCE SOURCES
Vocabulary and spelling are checked against recognised modern Cornish
resources, including the Gerlyver Kernewek, terminology published
by Akademi Kernewek, and guidance for Standard Written Form Cornish.
Where an established Cornish mathematical or scientific term exists, it
is used. International technical terms are retained where appropriate,
particularly where they preserve clarity, recognisability and musical
phrasing.
The translations favour fidelity of meaning, imagery and singability over
rigid word-for-word equivalence. Difficult images are preserved rather
than simplified merely because they are difficult to translate.
THE VISUAL COMPANION
The artwork follows the same principle as the music. Each cover is a close visual companion to its English counterpart: recognisably the same scene, but subtly altered, as though viewed from another position within the tesseract.
Tracks 1 - 2 are available now as a first transmissions from the Cornish edition. The remaining dimensional logs will follow.
