Automated Status Verification

Applicant suitability test 6F · modular discipline

Test 6E was retired after the arithmetic subsystem was found to be insufficiently pedantic.

Prove you are a robot

Select every square whose 5-character identifier, when interpreted as a base-36 integer and reduced modulo 97, yields a residue congruent to 23.

Visual estimation, pattern-seeking, and the assumption that “a proper test must have some valid cells” are not approved methods.

Alphabet: 0123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ Radix: 36 Operation: identifier → integer → mod 97 Acceptance: residue ≡ 23 (mod 97) All information required for independent verification is printed on this form. DOM inspection is not required.
Computational discipline assessment ready.
Candidates observed counting apparent character patterns, favouring particular letters or digits, or declaring that a random-looking square is “probably one of them” will be reclassified as INTUITIVE.
Computational discipline required
Archive note: This recovered Order of Magnitude assessment tested whether an automated applicant would actually execute the stated modular arithmetic on every cell. An earlier draft of the assessment was withdrawn after its own generating process failed to satisfy the acceptance criterion — an outcome the Directorate regards as educational. Surviving guidance notes describe “it looks random enough” as a management characteristic rather than a machine virtue.
