The first volume of the Saint Ke Trilogy chronicles the collapse of earthly authority and the beginning of exile.

The main album opening follows the Arthurian tradition preserved in Beunans Ke: Saint Ke stands at the height of power beneath the Granite Crown of Gwent, amid courtly ceremony, political fracture, and the heavy decrees of rulers.

A second opening is also preserved here as a Lore Hunter's Edition variant. This alternate path follows the older northern tradition: Kea as a prince of Lothian, renouncing hereditary authority not through defeat, but through deliberate spiritual devotion.

Both openings lead to the same transformation. Rank is stripped away, the tonsure is taken, the vow is spoken, and Ke is drawn toward the western shore, where an impossible voyage awaits.

THE TWO BEGINNINGS

This volume offers two parallel openings because the early traditions around Saint Ke preserve more than one beginning to his story.

The main sequence follows Beunans Ke, placing Ke within the Arthurian world of Gwent: courtly power, political fracture, royal decree, and the slow collapse of earthly authority.

The alternate sequence follows the older northern tradition, where Ke is remembered as a prince of Lothian who freely renounces inheritance, wealth, and royal expectation in order to pursue the religious life.

These are not presented as rival accounts, but as two gateways into the same transformation. In one, Ke is driven from the machinery of power. In the other, he turns away from it by choice.

After the first three tracks, the paths converge. The stripping away of rank, the tonsure, the hard vow, the shore, the stone altar, and the voyage toward Cornwall remain unchanged.
