Archived Observations is the principal music archive of M.C. Alchemist, the recording identity of Steve MacDonald-Brown.
The collection spans experimental electronic music, progressive folk, mathematical composition, science-inspired albums, literary adaptations and narrative concept albums. Each project explores a distinct subject through an original musical framework rather than a conventional collection of songs.
Major collections include The Cornish Cycle, exploring Cornish folklore and mythology, The Alchemist Chronicles, the mathematical works of ⊢ ∀ΞI∅M, the particle-behaviour research of ℒ : INVARIANT, and numerous experimental investigations into language, chemistry, physics, literature and digital culture.
The final transmission of the "Tiny" processor. A hauntological study in microtonality and digital heat death.
A high-voltage reconstruction of gothic rock tropes. Shimmering 12-strings meets
industrial drive, recalibrated for xenharmonic friction.
The first Chronicles of 'The Alchemist'.
Mapping the architecture of stasis. An audit of sterile elevators, radioactive picnics, and the geometry of the scream. The environment is calibrated; the affect is dead.
The Anatomical Manifesto. A forensic study of the media icon, ballistic trajectories, and the secret history of World War 3. The body is the exhibition; the fallout is Bossa Nova.
An audit of artificial space. Navigating the glass canyons and sterile corridors of a synthetic megalopolis. Using microtonality to map the dissonance of modern existence; the geometry is perfect, the spirit is absent.
A voyage through 25 sectors of the Russian interior. Mapping the soul of the soil through the eyes of the wanderer. From the tavern to the steppe, the lead-heavy sun never sets on the Heartland.
This archive, curated by M.C. Alchemist, documents the journey into the Great Mantel. It is a sonic map of the forced evolution required to survive in an environment where gravity is the only law and pressure is the only master.
The second chronicles of 'The Alchemist'.
A study in stasis and the preservation of failure.
This archive tracks the slow, inexorable descent of a subject tasked with mapping the impossible geometry of glass.
A study in recursive architecture and the collapse of the self. This record explores the internal and external iterations of a maze that refuses to be solved. Each track represents a turning point within a structure that continuously reconfigures itself, turning every step forward into a deeper descent toward the center.
A sonic excavation of the splintering slate cliffs and the ancient, echoing witchcraft of the Cornish coast. Time & Tide is a chronicle of the Boscastle landscape, where the Atlantic surge grinds against Carboniferous slate. This album serves as a sonic bridge between the physical weight of the cliffs and the ethereal weight of the folklore that permeates the air of North Cornwall and Bodmin Moor.
A playable auditory dossier of internet mysteries, lost signals, and cryptological ghosts. Subject: Nine high-level informational oddities drawn from historical record, digital folklore, coded transmissions, unresolved puzzles, and the stranger edges of the early internet.
Supplementary archive material associated with The Cold Wire. Restricted anomaly fragments, redacted memoranda, and partially recovered case-file material. COMPARTMENTAL ACCESS ONLY // UNAUTHORISED DISTRIBUTION PROHIBITED
A mathematical pilgrimage through the hyper-canyons of the fourth dimension. A sonic translation of the "Great Rotation."

The Labyrinth of Self. A transition from 4D exploration to 5D multiplicity.

The final collapse of the five-cell simplex. A sonic journey into the Singularity where the circle is closed.

THE CIRCLE IS CLOSED. THE MANIFOLD IS ONE.
The manifold is one. The circle is closed.
The Entropy Archive is a study of the vacuum left behind after The Vitrification of Saints. This record documents the silence of a man who has finally succeeded in removing the noise of humanity.

STAY QUIET IN THE VOID
The third chronicles of 'The Alchemist'.
A wet-industrial chronicle of biological re-binding, mercury sinew, and the heavy return to the physical world. 4th chronicle of 'The Alchemist'

THE MARROW REMEMBERS
The fourth chronicles of 'The Alchemist'.
A growing cycle of Cornish-language progressive folk transmissions exploring drowned kingdoms, standing stones, midsummer fires, sea spirits, mine-shadow, and the returning light of the western peninsula.
A growing archive of recovered educational recordings, domestic alignment supplements, flexidiscs, public-information fragments, institutional broadcasts, and correctly balanced leisure materials issued by the Order of Magnitude Educational Department.
A recovered archive from The Alchemist Chronicles.
The archive from which all other archives emerge...
...Or return.
A study in inhibition, emergence, and the appearance of the thirty-first variable.
A phonetic experiment constructed from articulatory categories rather than words, exploring the boundary between linguistics, sound art and machine interpretation.
// CLASSIFICATION: UNRESOLVED
LANGUAGE HAS BEEN DISASSEMBLED..
The articulators remain.
If this mathematical idea were capable of organising sound, what would it choose to hear?
// CLASSIFICATION: DERIVED
THE AXIOM HAS BEEN GIVEN SOUND.
Everything else follows.
An experiment in behaviour-driven composition.
Rather than writing music about subatomic particles, SPPAM compiles their physical properties and behaviours into compositional constraints. Mass, charge, spin, propagation, decay and interaction become pressures that shape musical gesture, texture and development.
This is the development laboratory behind ℒ : INVARIANT, an album currently in progress.
// CLASSIFICATION: BEHAVIOURAL CONSTRAINT COMPILER
The rules of particle behaviour generate the musical gestures.
